The Database

Built under the direct co-ordination of Academician Emilian Dobrescu, the data base mainly answers to the requests of the macroeconomic modelling, and of the analyses and studies of the transformations underwent in Romania during the complex process of creating the market economy. To the construction of this data base have been involved researchers from the National Institute of Economic Research.

The data base is structured by nine blocks, as it follows:

1. Gross Domestic Product
2. Input-output table
3. Monetary indicators
4. Foreign trade
5. The consolidated budget
6. Demography
7. Labour market
8. Capital market
9. Price indices

Each block provides information regarding:

• The computational methodology
• Description of the indicators
• Relationships among the indicators within the block and those from other blocks
• The statistical data series (monthly, quarterly and yearly)
